Oh, what a great privilege it is to be a slave of Jesus Christ...

When you give somebody the Gospel, you are saying to them "I would like to invite you to become a slave of Jesus Christ."
당신이 누군가에게 복음을 전할 때, 당신은 그들에게 "저는 당신을 예수 그리스도의 노예로 초대합니다."라고 말하는 것입니다.

"I would like to invite you to give up your independence, give up your freedom, submit yourself to an alien will, abandon all your rights, be owned by, controlled by the Lord."

In... back in Galatians chapter one and verse ten...

Paul says it again, the end of the verse, he says, "If I was trying to please men, I would not be a slave of Christ."

Now, he understood what slavery meant.

This is the singular focus of being a slave.

You don't have to please a lot of people, you just please one.

That metaphor is critical to understanding our relationship to the Lord.

If we're gonna talk about a personal relationship to Christ and to God, then our personal relationship is 'We're slaves.'

That's the best way to define that relationship.

And Paul here tells us; it means that we only please Him.

When you confess Jesus as Lord, you are at the same time confessing yourself as slave.

A slave is someone who's life belongs totally to someone else: absolute ownership, absolute control, absolute subjection, absolute obedience, absolute loyalty, absolute dependence...
노예는 그의 생명이 전적으로 다른 이에게 속해 있는 사람입니다: 절대적 소유권, 절대적 통제, 절대적 복종, 절대적 순종, 절대적 충성, 절대적 의존...

Now, if you don't grasp that idea of slavery and a lot of us we miss it, because it's been hidden from our English text...

It's hard for us to really understand the essence of what it is to be a Christian.
